What tools do I need to assemble a NORWEH timber frame kit?
One of the key advantages of NORWEH timber frame kits is that all the precision cutting and joinery work is done at the factory. On-site assembly requires only common tools that most homeowners already own or can easily rent.
Recommended tools for assembly:
- Power drill and impact driver – for driving fasteners and lag bolts
- Socket wrench set – for tightening hardware connections
- 4-foot and 8-foot level – essential for plumb posts and level beams
- Tape measure – for verifying dimensions during layout
- Rubber mallet – useful for seating mortise and tenon joints (HT model)
- Step ladder and extension ladder – for working at height during rafter installation
- Sawhorses – helpful for assembling beam sections at a comfortable working height
- Safety glasses and work gloves – standard personal protective equipment
Tools you do NOT need:
- No saw required — all timber is pre-cut to final dimensions
- No specialized timber framing tools or woodworking equipment
- No crane or heavy equipment for standard-sized kits
Full assembly instructions and a complete tools list are included with every NORWEH kit.
